Alex Thomson Racing today added Exposure Lights to the list of specialist suppliers that it will partner with in the lead up to the 2020-21 Vendée Globe.

As Preferred Supplier of torches, Exposure will equip the Alex Thomson Racing team with a complete range of LED spot lights, MOB torches and head torches for use in training and testing, as well as during offshore races including the double-handed Transat Jacques Vabre in 2019 and the Transat New York to Vendée race in 2020.

The announcement comes as the ocean racing team moves ever closer to the launch of its brand new IMOCA 60 race boat, set to be unveiled this summer.

Skipper Thomson said: “Night vision onboard the boat is crucial when we race. But it’s also important that the equipment we use doesn’t add unnecessary weight. We chose Exposure because their products are lightweight, reliable but also rechargeable, which sits perfectly with our sustainable vision onboard the new HUGO BOSS boat.”

For Thomson and his team, weight reduction is of crucial importance, and is a factor which will be considered down to the smallest detail onboard the new HUGO BOSS boat.

Tom Harrop, Exposure Lights Product Manager, said: “Having worked with Alex Thomson Racing in previous campaigns we are thrilled to be supporting the team for its 2020 Vendee campaign, onboard the new race boat. The team is dedicated to constantly developing and improving. They adapt and employ the latest innovations and technology in their pursuit of excellence. This exactly mirrors Exposure’s approach to developing our ultra-light weight, powerful LED lights and headtorches for the extremes of ocean racing.”

British-based Exposure Lights design and manufacture highly advanced LED rechargeable marine torches, safety lights and head torches in the UK. Exposure’s product range comprises a variety of safety features including man overboard strobes, which work automatically when in contact with water, and instant man over board (MOB) alert and recovery systems, which use bluetooth and mobile technologies.
