British Skipper Alex Thomson back in the lead as we move into day three of The Vendée Globe race.

At 1100hrs today, British skipper, Alex Thomson, moved back into first place position at The Vendée Globe Race.

After a second night at sea alone, Thomson – who is racing on board his brand new boat HUGO BOSS – moved back into pole position after making the decision to take a different strategy from the rest of the fleet, resulting in him pulling away from the leading pack.

Alex commented from his boat today:  “I went with a slightly different strategy to the other boats in terms of my positioning. I decided to work east, towards the coast. Time will soon tell how that works out for me. I’m in the hunt and that’s the main thing. Now I’ll be trying to pass a ridge of high pressure and then I’ll hit some trade winds, from there on out I should hopefully be rocking South and high-tailing all the way down to the equator!
