Thursday 10th November – Alex Thomson explained to the technical team this morning that all is well onboard. HUGO BOSS is in good shape and Alex is potentially only a few hours behind Armel Le Cleac’h, racing on Banque Populaire who is currently leading the pack as the fleet heads south.

Overnight Alex has managed to claw back some miles as the race course takes the IMOCA 60’s down the West coast of Africa. HUGO BOSS is now positioned as one of the most western boats. This part of the Atlantic is renowned for having a wind shadow up to 150 nautical miles west of the island Madeira. We will have to wait and see if this plays to Alex’s advantage as he navigates past the island.

The winds have increased overnight and should continue to do so throughout the day which will see HUGO BOSS pick up speed as they approach the Equator.
