The world’s leading aluminium hulled RIB manufacturer, Highfield Boats, has become Official Supplier to Alex Thomson Racing.
To announce the partnership, the ocean racing team and boat builder today unveiled a brand new rigid hull inflatable boat (RIB), developed and supplied by Highfield Boats specifically for use by Skipper Alex Thomson and his team.
The 9m custom-branded black RIB mirrors the brand identity of the team’s new HUGO BOSS boat, set to launch officially on 19th September. A striking pink A-frame echoes the fluro pink showcased on the IMOCA racing boat’s coach roof, keel and rudders – a first for the IMOCA class. Meanwhile the RIB’s canopy features the same carbon-inspired silver pattern – devised by industrial designer Karim Rashid – seen on the foredeck of the cutting-edge HUGO BOSS yacht. The RIB’s Twin Honda BF250 engines and offshore hull design make her fast and extremely capable in all weathers.
